Point staking
Mark on the ground where your land starts and ends according to the deed.
What it is
The survey process of marking on the ground what a deed or property title specifies, so you know exactly where a piece of land starts and ends. The coordinates in the document are taken to the ground with GNSS or a total station and the corners are left marked.
Timing and coverage
How long it takes depends on the size of the land, the access and the vegetation: an urban lot is not the same as a hillside farm. I tell you when you ask, along with the price, before you commit to anything. I work in El Salvador.
When you need it
- You are going to fence or build and want to be sure you stay within the boundary
- You bought a piece of land and do not know where the markers are
- There is a dispute with a neighbour about where the line runs
- You are subdividing and the lots need to be set out on the ground
What you get
- The corners marked on the ground with a monument, stake or paint, as appropriate
- The sketch with the staked points and their coordinates
- A record of what was marked and to what precision
What I need from you to start
- The deed or title with the technical description, or the approved drawing
- Access to the land and its boundaries
- If neighbours are affected, that they be told: it is better if they are present
